Lisa was one of the first educators in the Tampa Bay Area of Florida USA to make use of the ISC’s new communication technology, Homemeeting’s JOINET, for linking her students with students in Singapore, China, and other locations around the world. She worked with Dr. Elaine Sullivan to coordinate and plan the first ISC Global Youth Summit in Beijing in 2007. Since then she has been a member of Sullivan’s planning team for the Global Youth Conference that will be held in Sweden in April 2009. Lisa Cobb received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of South Florida in Tampa (U.S.A.). She began her career in education in 1992 and is employed by Hillsborough County Public Schools. She has served the school district as a middle school language arts teacher and team leader, Subject Area Leader for language arts, and as the Lead Teacher for Curriculum Integration at an award-winning magnet school focusing on international studies. As a result of her efforts to integrate international studies into the curriculum, Lisa has developed and presented professional development training in her own district, for teachers and administrators in Duval and Broward Counties (Florida), and at national and international conferences. She currently works as a grant developer in the district’s Grants & Research Operations Office. Lisa is passionate about the importance of infusing global studies into the curriculum and helping young people connect with their peers around the world. She is excited about playing a role in the ISC’s mission to foster such connections, and she looks forward to seeing new relationships develop and to help strengthen those formed in Beijing at the 2010 Youth World Conference in Sweden. |
