Mark graduated with a BA from Central-China Normal University, China and an MA from the University of Nottingham, UK. Since his graduation from the university, he has been working as a teacher of English in middle schools. He has been given numerous awards for his expertise in teaching and dedication to education as well as his students’ academically excellent performance. In addition, he had a couple of years’ experience being a principal of a high school, which was awarded a title of “Provincially First-class School” during his administration. He boasts his highly efficient and democratized school management. He is presently teaching in Second Foreign Languages School of Nanshan, Shenzhen, China. In addition he is acting as Director of the school’s English Center, Chairperson of the English subject, and Coordinator of school’s international connections. Mark is also a member of the Principals’ Council of the ISC. The latest big project is a three-continent initiative, called the Global Partnership Project, between the school districts of Nashan/Shenzhen in China, Pasco County in the USA, and Stockholm City in Sweden. He is the project coordinator for the 11 Nashan Schools that are participating. In this role he is a member of the GPP project’s leadership team, called the PSN. He is now working with Nanshan GPP project schools to guide their students to surpass beyond the limits of parochial nationalism and to enter into a globalized community to address the challenges with which all human beings are being confronted. In reviewing the ISC work that I have been involved in over the past 2 years, my life has been substantially enriched and more seems more significant. For me, the GPP project and other projects in the ISC are now part of my daily life as an indispensable obligation. I envision that the global learning project we are developing now across the world will one day be part of local school curriculum, everywhere, in the near future. |
